What Businesses are Most Likely to be on Instagram?

This is a question that we’ve heard a lot recently in the retail leasing industry!

Instagram is home to countless business owners looking to make an impact in their communities. In fact, there are more than 200 million business accounts on Instagram globally that users visit every day. Instagram also reports that 90% of Instagram users follow at least one business. While these numbers are certainly impressive, what it really boils down to is that Instagram is undeniably a part of the business world – and ignoring it is only harming your sales outreach.

From our perspective, we’ve found that many Leasing Agents are unaware of where to start when it comes to contacting businesses that could be potential tenants. So, we took the time to create this list below of the businesses you should look to reach on the platform. As you can see, most of them are “visual” businesses, which can easily show their product and services through photography and videography.

Also important to note is that Instagram has over 1500 categories for businesses listed on the platform, which allows for niche businesses to classify themselves. Remember to consider this when you’re searching!

Most Active Businesses on Instagram

  1. Hair Salons

More likely than not your favorite local hair salon is on Instagram! With styles constantly changing, it is the norm for stylists to show off their skills on the ‘gram!

Just like restaurants, bakeries are very likely to have a presence on Instagram. Who doesn’t love seeing pictures of baked goods? (Btw if you are in NYC, get the Banana Pudding at Magnolia!)

  1. Spas & MedSpas

When people invest in expensive spa procedures and services, they like to see what they’re getting ahead of time. A great majority of MedSpas showcase testimonials and other visual content regularly on their Instagram pages.

While this list is a great starting point, there are certainly exceptions to the norm and there are many other businesses you can find on Instagram (like tech companies like Resquared - we’d love a follow for our new account here!).

One last thing: Resquared’s retail leasing prospecting platform allows you to contact business owners directly to their Instagram, which saves you valuable time and energy you may have spent searching for their contact information. It also keeps track of who you’ve reached out to, simplifying the entire prospecting workflow. Sign-up for a demo and our team will show you how!
