What Businesses Should I Contact on Facebook Vs. Instagram?

This is a question that we’ve heard a lot recently in the retail leasing industry!

Our digitally connected world moves faster than most of us can keep up with, and for many, social media can feel like the wild west when it comes to prospecting.

And that’s for a good reason. As of October 2021, Facebook estimates there are 200 million businesses on Facebook. Additionally, they estimate that over 200 million Instagram users visit at least one business profile daily and that 81% of their users use the platform to help research products and services.

We regularly receive questions from many of our clients on which social media platforms they should use to find leads for their shopping centers, so we put together this quick guide to help Leasing Agents and Brokers discern whether Instagram or Facebook is the optimal place to find different business types. Note that this is based on themes we’ve seen, and it’s possible to find any business on either platform!

Most Active Businesses on Facebook

  1. Service-based businesses

That local contracting company that renovates beautiful homes in your area - they’re more likely to have a bigger presence on Facebook than Instagram! Other service-based businesses like plumbers and electricians also fall into this category.

  1. Restaurants

We know we said this blog covered which businesses to reach on each platform, but this one makes the top 3 for Instagram too! Restaurant owners tend to use Facebook for posting menu updates and specials as well as photos of their food.

  1. Doctor’s Offices and MedSpas

When people invest in expensive spa procedures and services, they like to see what they’re getting ahead of time. A great majority of MedSpas showcase testimonials and other visual content regularly on their social media pages.

  1. Fitness Studios

With so much competition between gyms and fitness studios alike, many local business owners will actively use Instagram to showcase Before & Afters and perks of their studios.

And that’s a wrap! While these examples tend to be true, there really is no magic formula when it comes to finding business owners and every situation is unique. It’s important to do your research and reach out on both platforms where possible. Resquared’s integration with Facebook Messenger means that you can contact business owners on both Facebook and Instagram in seconds.
